Tip 4

Trust the weather forecast. I don’t know where you are coming from but in china I have found the weather forecast to be 99% reliable. And in winters, dont just look at the temperature, but also the wind speed. The windy days are worse than the really cold ones. The wind, here in Beijing specially, just gets to your bones. I hated those days, you couldnt even walk or cycle in a direction opposite to it😓

Tip 3

I use two basic apps for All translation related things. Its a little difficult to move around in a country where hardly anyone speaks English, and you dont speak chinese 😅

Imagine you are stuck in a situation where you are supposed to read Mandarin, mayb at a bus stop or a map; Pleco is going to be your bestfrind in All such situations. All you have to do is copy down the strokes/ characters that you see, literally, and it will show you what it means.

The second one is Baidu translator, and not just because you cant access Google translator without a vpn 😂 Baidu translator provides you quite accurate translations. And also, if you rarely go out and attempt to conversate with people the audio option is also available

Tip 1

Make sure your phone battery lasts long or maybe get a battery bank because your phone is going to be you best friend in China, trust me.

My phone battery lasts the whole day ( mostly) and I still lug my huge battery bank around because you never know when you might have to get on an adventure 😁 This one has been supporting me for more than a year now, and I cant imagine my life without it.

A random rant

Yesterday someone tried to bash me for not offering them my food.. MY FOOD. I get it that people usually do ask around if anyone would like a bite, but that doesn’t mean that they are required to offer it to you; they are being nice. If they do it, thank them, and if they don’t please accept the fact that it belongs to them and they have every right to it.

I realize that lately we have started taking such actions for granted. If someone opens a door for you, pulls out a chair, lets you enter before them, or offers you something of theirs, we should be thankful.

If you don’t agree, do let me know why, maybe I’ll get to learn something.( And for those who might be worried, I DID NOT retaliate. I was too busy eating 😉 )

Project 1: Day 13

Silence is beautiful, isn’t it? I’ve read about awkward, as well as suffocating silence, but thankfully have never experienced it. To me silence is this amazingly beautiful thing; something really plain yet so elegant that you can never have enough of it. I’m sorry if i’m confusing you but the last 24 hours have been so peaceful *contented sigh* I’ve had my room all to myself 😉 My roommate’s gone home. Don’t get me wrong, she’s amazing but being alone is just too good =D

I was up all night working so I had my breakfast at 9 and then went to sleep 😉 my mother would be sooooo angry if she knew but how would she know, right?! I then woke up around 4, missing lunch by 30 minutes =( Thankfully I had some bread and butter with me so YAY!!

The city was relatively peaceful today, so hopefully our classes will start from Thursday. And no, I’m not excited about going to school but it’s my final semester and every single day counts. A lot.

Missing winters *sigh*IMG-20131110-00383.jpg

Project 1: Day 12

Oscars-2015-Nominations-Announced-Live-Stream-470108-2So, the OSCARS!! Leonardo DiCaprio!! ( oh don’t worry this post isn’t about them, probably because I didn’t even watch the awards 😀 )

My day started with my waking up late, meaning that I missed breakfast 😦 then I found out that classes had been cancelled for the day, YAY! I was excited to have my Monday off and read a book (what else would you do, right?). The reason, which I found out later, was that the city was on red-alert for the day, due to an execution that took place. Come 5:00, it was announced that the university would remain closed for the next two days. The news that turned out to be the cherry on top was, “we couldn’t go out since the university itself was under some threats”, even the students who left for home were provided with transport, by the university. So, I rushed to our nearest cafe and brought some stuff since, you know, everything would be closed for God knows how long.

So here I am, can’t leave campus for the next two days, there is some serious issue with the network’s signals and I’m alone in my room (my roommate went home) 😦

Well the good news is, I can catch up on the much desired rest that I needed.

Guys please pray nothing goes wrong? My university as well as my sister’s have been receiving serious threats. The army and universities themselves are taking steps to ensure our safety but .. Let’s hope for the best!?!
